Job Title: Nursery Practitioner

Location: Milton Keynes, Wicken

Salary: Up to £20,500

Job Type: Full time; Working hours are 8.00am – 5.00pm or 9.00am – 6.00pm on a weekly shift basis.

Our Nursery, is located at the Grade II listed Wicken Park Manor House campus.

The Role

To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children placed in our Setting. To give support to other personnel within the setting and to implement the daily routine in the nursery room. We are looking for both experienced nursery practitioners and apprentices who are willing to take a qualification to become room leaders.

Responsibilities include

  • The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs.
  • The planning and preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents and negotiating working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery.
  • Offering all children equal opportunities with regard to their religious persuasion, racial origins, gender, disabilities, cultural or linguistic background: in particular, challenging situations where racism or discrimination is displayed.
  • Key Worker responsibility including the keeping of development records and observations.
  • Complying with safeguarding policies, procedures and code of conduct.
  • Demonstrating a personal commitment to safeguarding and student/colleague wellbeing

Ideal candidate

  • Level 3 NVQ in childcare or above (Desirable)
  • Understanding of Safeguarding in Early Years; Health and Safety; Data Protection; Race Relations; Confidentiality issues.
  • Knowledge of Child development. First Aid. Safe working practices.
  • Ability to work and communicate with young children.
  • Ability to be diplomatic and tactful.
