Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Manager (Aerospace/Manufacturing)
Location: India Mill, Darwen
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 based on skills, experience, and any relevant qualifications.
Job type: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week over a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday.

The role:
The Facilities Maintenance Manager will evaluate, plan, and implement site improvements, alterations and preventative maintenance for equipment and infrastructure.
Specify, obtain quotations, project manages and co-ordinate subcontracts on major premises site relocation, alterations, and maintenance.
Champion H&S and ensure that checks are carried out and documentation is obtained from outside contractors for activities relevant to the company’s ISO9000 & environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Site Management:
- Ensure management of general and preventative maintenance programs for equipment, buildings and plant. All servicing shall be completed to schedule to ensure compliance with quality and environmental standards.
- Identify and develop suitable contractors and equipment providers for necessary facility improvement.
- Carry out routine tender processes to drive improvement in service contract pricing and support packages.
- Schedule and ensure proper completion of work that may need to be undertaken by external contractors.
- Lead the installation process for new/refurbished equipment. This will include updating building plans and ensuring that the required services are in place, also coordinating delivery with equipment providers. Add to the maintenance schedule and create the appropriate support documentation for servicing/calibration.
- Arrange repairs on the plant equipment and buildings as necessary. This includes plumbing, mains water and sanitary ware and the proper working of all electrical units and systems in the buildings.
- Ensure the Site Maintenance Engineering Team and Contractors adhere to health and safety requirements and enforce industry standards where necessary.
- Control and administer the service schedule and maintenance records to the quality and environmental standards requirement.
- Act as an emergency backup to the Site Maintenance Engineer during holidays and absences.
- Manage all statutory plant and equipment (LOLER/PUWER/EAW/LEV/PSSR) and ensure equipment is safe for continued use.
Environmental Management:
- Follow and uphold the Company’s environmental policy, procedures, and instructions in order to minimise environmental impacts from its activities.
- Identify and assess the environmental aspects of new equipment within the company and identify control measures.
- Support the monitoring of environmental objectives and targets, follow up on the objectives’ results and update KPIs to inform the senior leadership team.
- Ensure that identified and potential non-conformities are properly resolved.
- Operate the building monitoring system and log usage of electricity, gas and water.
- Participate in planning the emergency response and the tests for the emergency response procedures.
The Candidate:
- NEBOSH Qualified
- HND/HNC Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (working towards or appropriate C&G BTEC qualification).
- Experience in Facilities Management and Health & Safety
- Organise own workload / Manage Priorities & Workload of the maintenance Team / able to work to deadlines
- Communication, negotiation, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively both in collaboration with other professionals/teams and on own
- Up-to-date First Aid at Work
- Full driving licence.
Working pattern:
- 4-day week Monday to Thursday 07:15 am to 5:00 pm totalling 37 hours weekly.
