Oxbury is a professional practice of Chartered Quantity Surveyors. We provide the full range of Quantity Surveying, Development Management, Cost Management, Employer’s Agent and Project Management services for a wide spectrum of public, private and commercial clients.
We are now looking for an enthusiastic Trainee to join our team in Cambridge. You’ll complete a 5-year Degree Apprenticeship Programme delivered in conjunction with Anglia Ruskin University. You will attend University one or two days per week to complete a BSc in Quantity Surveying and will then complete the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence so that by the end of the programme you are a Chartered Quantity Surveyor. When you aren’t at University, you’ll work with a team of experienced Surveyors to develop your skills and knowledge in all aspects of Professional Quantity Surveying. Initially, you’ll be supporting the day to day management of several construction projects, working with both the residential and commercial teams; and as you progress you will take responsibility for your own projects. Candidate Requirements / Experience in the following:
- This is a Trainee role so no prior experience is required. However, you should have an interest in residential and commercial property development, construction, or surveying.
- You must be able to meet the minimum entry standard for the BSC in Quantity Surveying which is 112 UCAS Tariff Points (already achieved or predicted for 2022 school leavers) plus 5 GCSEs at grade C / level 4 or above including English and Maths.
- You’ll need to have excellent numeracy skills and be a confident communicator in a variety of situations.
- You’ll need to be capable of managing your own time to meet deadlines.
- The role involves visits to construction sites so you must be capable of walking over rough and muddy ground, climbing ladders and stepping over low walls et.
- You must be able to travel outside of normal working hours in order to attend Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford one or two days per week during University semesters.
- Due to the remote nature of many construction sites, a UK driving licence will become essential once you start visiting sites on your own. If you do not already hold a valid UK licence you must be capable of attaining one during the first two years of employment.
