The Role:
Forming part of the SYNLAB Senior Management, the IT Manager will manage the Drug & Alcohol businesses through the provision of IT systems and support. In particular, to provide technical leadership in developing and implementing IT systems to support solutions to secure new customers and provide competitive differentiation. In addition, the IT Manager will provide expertise in the introduction of new technology as well as ensuring the resilience and security of systems and infrastructure.
Duties include:
- Provide technology leadership and support to the SYNLAB Drug & Alcohol business.
- Oversight of the IT team, including agreeing on personal development, objectives and managing performance
- IT leadership for the implementation of new systems and applications
- Work with fellow business unit IT leaders and CIO on cross-SYNLAB IT initiatives
- Work with business development and Sales and Marketing colleagues to provide IT solutions for customers
- Provide expertise to support the business on core applications, including LIMS
- Oversee IT infrastructure, including telecommunications, and disaster recovery capability
- Provision of IT service management in collaboration with the CIO and other SYNLAB IT colleagues to ensure service levels are established and met
- Manage Drug and Alcohol IT budget (OPEX and CAPEX)
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Degree educated
- Significant experience at IT management level
- Experience of team leadership and development
- Experience of LIMS
- Experience of desktop/ office applications, especially Office 365
- Experience of having proactively driven IT service improvements
- IT service management experience
- Experience with Microsoft Server and SQL Server
- Experience of managing external service providers
- Able to work proactively and plan, organise and manage own workload
- Project management and influencing skills in addition to personal drive and results orientation
- Strong communication skills and able to deal professionally with people at all levels
- Must be flexible in approach to the work as priorities change
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Confident and personable with strong emotional intelligence
- A fast learner with excellent attention to detail
- Strong understanding of GDPR and Data Protection legislation
- Experience and familiarity with cyber security controls
- Excellent timekeeping, reliability and adaptability
- Can-do attitude
Desirable (not essential):
- ITIL qualification
- Project management certification
- Experience in a pathology business
