The Role
We are currently looking to recruit for an Operations Manager in our Manchester area. You will implement, manage and strategically develop Street League’s programmes across Greater Manchester and surrounding areas.
You will be responsible for delivering agreed operating and income generation targets and finance management. Reporting to the Head of Operations (HOO), the Operations Manager will be a key part of the Operations Management Team within Street League and will contribute to and lead on the implementation of strategies which shape future operational delivery and development for Street League.
Main Responsibilities include
- To manage the team in line with Street League’s policies and procedures to meet the aims of the Business Plan.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of our systems, processes and procedures.
- Assist the Senior Management Team in identifying and managing risk.
- Full participation in staff supervision, staff meetings, staff appraisal and personal/professional development for self and team.
- Responsible for the Line Management of all staff within the operations team.
- Hold supervision meetings (1-2-1s), annual appraisals and bi-weekly team meetings and monitor operating progress against targets.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff by providing internal training.
- Responsible for recruitment of staff for the local area in partnership with the CEO and HR.
- Responsible for the sustainability and growth of programmes by securing funding from Trusts and Foundations, identifying and developing new corporate supporters and winning local contracts from commissioned income streams such as Offending and Rehabilitation Services, Employability Training Providers and Colleges. Above areas of work supported by the MD and Commercial team.
- Work with the CEO and Finance Department to plan and manage budgets annually.
- Responsible for operational budget control and spend (ensure expenditure is within forecasts).
- Lead regional fundraising events.
Ideal Candidate
- Proven track record of managing staff and building and leading a team in a similar setting.
- Experience of managing within a contract-orientated and outcome-driven culture.
- Experience of community or youth work in relation to working with young people and a variety of client groups would be an advantage.
- Able to motivates staff to meet targets.
- Able to Communicates effectively both orally and in writing, with excellent presentation skills.
- Will have a confident and calm approach to problems and an ability to use initiative in finding solutions.
- Excellent forward planning and project management skills.
- Understanding of the issues facing young people and relevant government policy.
- Knowledge of the main strategic partners and priorities in their local area.
- Knowledge of the third sector and related agencies
- Passionate about Street League’s vision and mission to support young people.
- Very organised, driven and hardworking. Motivated to take on challenges and find ways to succeed.
