Job Title: Team Leader

Location: Colchester

Salary: £27,500 – £30,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time. Schedule – 12 hour shift, Overtime, Weekend Availability. We’re currently looking for a full time candidate, to work a shift pattern of 1 day on 2 days off. 8am-23.00. This will included paid sleep in’s and 2 paid on calls a month.

Jasper Education & Support Service (JESScare) provide short and long term residential services for young people aged from 11 – 18 with emotional and behavioral difficulties, in a therapeutic homely environment. JESS has been open just over a year. We are a growing company and there is potential development with the company.

Our home is based in Clacton on Sea and Colchester.

Our aim is to support our young people to grow self-esteem, build positive relationships and trust, re-engage in education and look to build a brighter future for themselves.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 in residential childcare. (Required)

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring effective leadership of the house and residential community when on duty, such that it is organised, and managed in a manner that delivers the best possible child care.
  • Ensuring a high standard of care and support is available to each child when on duty and that all child care practices in place meet the requirements of current legislation and the expectations of the inspecting regulatory bodies.
  • Participating in the safeguarding of all the children and ensuring that JESSCARE’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is adhered to.
  • Promoting and ensuring the general health, safety and welfare of the staff and children and ensuring adherence to JESSCARE’s Health and Safety Policy and contributing to JESSCARE’s Risk Assessment programme.
  • Ensuring all the medical needs of the children are catered for and routine appointments and check-ups are maintained.
  • Ensuring that all current legislation is followed in relation to the handling, recording, safekeeping, administering and disposal of medication.
  • Maintaining appropriate liaisons with parents / guardians and outside agencies.
  • Attending meetings of staff and young people under the direction of the Management team.
  • Assisting with the operational and management budgets relevant to residential life with fellow team leaders.
  • Providing person centred support to young people with all aspects of their daily lives within a homely environment.
  • Providing encouragement to all young people to work towards achieving their goals.
  • Build trusting and lasting relationships with the young people and staff you work with.
