Here at Jess Care we offer high quality residential care and therapeutic services for young persons, from 8 to 18 years of age. The homes and their staff offer support to Young People with social; emotional; communication; and, behavioural issues.
The role: Providing quality residential care and therapeutic support for young people from the ages of 8-18 years old. The role ranges from a variety of responsibilities, including general care and support for the young persons, carrying out assessments and reports, ensuring the standards of the facilities are maintained, administration, appraisal and other duties.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Providing levels of care and support appropriate to the general needs of the children and those as outlined in their Statements of Special Educational Needs and their Care Plan
- Safe Guarding the health and safety of the children.
- Providing a stimulating environment, conducive to the educational, personal and social development of the children.
- Helping children to develop life skills and actively participate in educational initiative as directed
- Attending to practical matters in relation to care of the children (cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing and general maintenance around the home etc)
- Take an active role in recognising and supporting/celebrating sexual orientation, ethnicity, gender, culture, language, religion, etc.
- Being a positive role model in the consistent and professional treatment of YP, Staff, multi-agency representatives, including one’s actions and language (not bad) used at all times.
- Collating reports and taking overall responsibility for the production of these for submission at the Children’s Initial Reviews and Annual Reviews.
- Holding regular meetings and recording these for those children allocated.
- Maintaining regular contact with the parents/carers of his / her Key Work children, under the direction of senior staff.
- Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and reviews relating to individual children or groups of children.
- Supervising and providing activities for children in the absence of other Youth Workers.
- Participating in the transport of children as a driver and/or escort to their home areas or other places such as school, agreed activities, medical appointments, religious appointments, holidays and others.
- The Role Description is not definitive, but indicative; and, is subject to frequent review and modification. The Youth Workers will be asked to carry out any other duties that may reasonably be required by management.
