Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under the general direction of the Communications Manager to contribute to the provision of a quality communications, public relations, press office and social media service for the city council and project partners.
- To deliver a professional, proactive and creative communications service which supports the city council’s main vision and objectives and shared outcomes.
- To develop and enhance the project-specific communications strategies and communications plans to deliver effective communications to a wide range of stakeholders
- To work as a member of a self managing team with a sense of collective responsibility and purpose and to provide support and advice to colleagues;
- To advise Supervisor about possible future service needs to ensure that all resources are adequately planned for and managed;
- To ensure that any financial resources or assets are used effectively
- To develop and sustain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and contacts
- To recommend and contribute to the implementation of any necessary changes in service delivery, operating flexibly to meet such changes;
- To develop and sustain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and contacts
- To contribute to the achievement of the Council’s performance management framework, especially team plans and personal objectives
- To be aware of and comply with health and safety requirements;
- To liaise with others across the organisation to meet customer needs and demands;
- To support the implementation of the Authority’s ‘Access to Services’ vision, as appropriate
About you:
- Highly developed oral communications skills to liaise with people at all levels internally and externally.
- Ability to work on own initiative and as a member of a team, prioritising conflicting demands. Good organisational skills ensure deadlines are met.
- Knowledge of how to get the best use out of social media in campaigns and media relations
- Ability to respond to changing priorities and breaking issues and work flexibly as a member of a team.
- Flexibility to provide for occasional evening or weekend work.
- Experience of producing accurate and readable copy and publicity material to tight deadlines.
- Experience of developing and implementing communications campaigns
