Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

We now seek a Mechanical Design Engineer to research, design, develop and continuously improve Spinnaker products. Forming part of a small, talented team, this is an exciting position within the businesses and offers variety, stimulation and challenge and a chance to make a real contribution. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing novel, practical, and innovative solutions to Customer & Spinnaker requirements
- Researching new technologies, components and processes and considering how they might enhance our products in a cost-effective way
- Design creation & testing – create, develop, analyse and safely test designs ensuring that they meet the required functionality, cost, quality, safety, legislative, reliability & aesthetic requirements
- Liaise with Suppliers and/or other Engineering Teams to arrange for the timely, cost effective and quality manufacture of prototype parts & assemblies
- Complete verification validation processes and generate reports on the designs / systems within which they may integrate
- Pre-compliance tests for all products, to provide a high level of confidence in the product being able to pass the required legislative testing and to ensure the product is robust for the market within which it is to be used
- Work in partnership with our Production Engineers to ensure all designs are fully manufacturable by providing accurate, clear and concise CAD data to an agreed assembly structure
- Create & maintain Product CAD & BOM data in accordance with Spinnaker procedures and requirements; prepare project documentation before, during and after a development. e.g. specifications, BOM’s, test schedules, test reports, training guides, service manuals
- Partner with our Purchasing team to source new components and ensure an acceptable supply chain can be maintained in Production
- Provision of technical support to design / product issues
About you:
- You will demonstrate previous experience and success within a mechanical design engineering role, together with the suitable supporting qualifications
- An excellent communicator, you will possess strong collaboration skills, able to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders both internal and external, maintaining positive working relationships
- Possessing strong computer literacy, you will be self-motivated, focused, well-organised and able to multi-task and work to deadlines
- The nature of the role requires flexibility be shown both in terms of duties and hours worked and may require UK or international travel from time to time
