Job Title: QHSE Manager

Location: Plymouth

Salary: Up to £45k per annum DOE

We continue to develop our in-house expertise, employing over 130 people across a range of design, manufacturing, supply chain, testing, engineering and project disciplines.

We now seek a Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Manager to provide strategic input, technical support, training and team leadership, and take a hands-on approach where required. This is an important position within the businesses and offers variety, stimulation and challenge and a chance to make a real contribution. Responsibilities will include:

Quality:

  • Set business targets and objectives for continuous improvement
  • Organise, maintain and manage the Integrated Management Systems of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, including audits, procedures and records
  • Ensure procedures are followed (quality and work instructions) including through internal audits; coordinate the internal auditor group
  • Carry out supplier audits to ensure suppliers are capable of supplying the standards required
  • Drive the accurate and effective use of product databases to monitor quality, identify issues, and drive improvements
  • Oversee quality assurance checks on incoming deliveries and products before they leave the factory and maintain quality records on products; analyse product fault data for early warning of potential “problem” faults
  • Ensure factory operatives and field engineers work to the required high standards and quality ethics

Health & Safety:

  • Oversee compliance with all statutory and company directives relating to health and safety.
  • Update or develop new health & safety initiatives, processes and supporting procedures as required.
  • Drive the ongoing improvement of health and safety standards across the company’s operating sites, not forgetting remote workers.
  • Conduct regular health and safety and environmental audits with continuous improvement in mind.
  • Maintain an up to date, fit for purpose suite of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Provide an advisory service to Directors, line managers, employees and others on all health and safety issues.
  • Provide health & safety induction training to employees and agency workers.
  • Plan and execute the provision of ongoing health & safety training.
  • Support the business with incident investigations.

About you;

  • You will demonstrate significant previous experience within a QHSE management role within a manufacturing environment.
  • You will possess strong people management experience.
  • An excellent communicator, able to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders and be comfortable operating in a ‘hands-on’ capacity.
  • You will need to be suitably qualified (ideally NEBOSH and CQP MCQI).
  • You will possess strong computer literacy, with good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite & SharePoint applications.
  • You will be self-motivated, focused, well-organised and able to multi-task and work to deadlines.
  • Be able to demonstrate genuine enthusiasm about health & safety, quality and environmental issues and compliance.
