Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Location: Dulwich, SE London

Salary: £23,700 – £25,500 depending on experience

Job Type: Temporary – Maternity Cover

The College is an academically selective independent boys’ school just 11 minutes by train from London Victoria.

About the role

Purpose

To work as a member of the team and with other teams where necessary to ensure the Kindergarten provides a high quality level of education and care to the children attending DUCKS in line with the stated aims of DUCKS;

  • to ensure that all our pupils feel equally secure and valued
  • to offer academic challenges that enable all pupils to realise their potential
  • to provide sporting, cultural, charitable and adventurous engagement for all our pupils to enjoy and through which they can learn to work co-operatively and to lead
  • to nurture a supportive community that encourages a sense of social responsibility

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist the room leader with all classroom activities
  • To be aware of children’s individual needs and pass/discuss these with the room leader
  • To offer a caring, warm and approachable manner towards the children
  • To make observations and to contribute assessments for each child’s learning journey
  • To contribute and implement to the regular planning documents to assist the room leader in the delivery of the curriculum in a way appropriate to the child/children
  • To provide before and after school care, set up activities, follow rotas, supervise play and activities.
  • To work in cooperation with colleagues for the benefit of DUCKS
  • To act in accordance with the Code of Conduct and the Staff Handbook
  • To undertake staff training as part of whole school INSET Training or as an area of personal development
  • To assist with classroom preparation during the days before the children start back to school at the beginning of the school year (INSET)
  • To take responsibility for delivering the curriculum e.g. focus activities, groups activities, story telling etc.
  • To undertake duties as requested by the Head of Kindergarten on a regular and fair basis.

About you

  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Experience of providing high quality care and contributing to high quality learning of the children
  • Hold a recognized child care qualification
