Job Title: Digital Support Worker

Location: Blackheath, London, SE3 0PW.

Salary: £13.43 per hour

Job type: Permanent Part-Time – 22 hours per week

Morden College is a charity dedicated to supporting older people, providing them with residential care and residential nursing care if the need arises. The role:

Following recent changes within our Health and Wellbeing Team, we are looking to recruit a friendly and knowledgeable Digital Support Worker to assist our residents’ journey with technology through their time with Morden College. Working across our award-winning grounds, you will be responsible for the helping our residents gain independence with technology, supporting with a range of needs that enable them to live a good life

With a welcoming approach, you will build relationships within the community, resolving any queries in partnership with colleagues across Morden College. You must have a passion for providing excellent customer service with a caring approach, understanding the varied lives of our residents and the individual support requirements they have.

We are looking for someone to bring commitment, integrity, enthusiasm and passion to the role that our residents deserve.

Above all, you will be yourself, have a sense of fun and take ownership of the role and all it requires whilst ensuring you are a positive role model for staff and an ambassador or Morden College.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following:

  • To play an active part in the Health and Wellbeing Team supporting people to live the “good life” in independence by promoting dignity, independence, choice, and fulfilment within a policy of managed risk taking.
  • Working in partnership with other organisations to embed a Digital Literacy Service for beneficiaries to promote digital inclusion.
  • Be the Digital Champion, inspiring and supporting beneficiaries to have the digital access, skills, and confidence they need to live an included and independent life.
  • In collaboration with the Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager create and deliver a structured training programme and resources for volunteer Digital Champions that motivates and supports them to encourage older people to develop their digital skills and confidence.
  • Support the embedding of electronic care management systems in the independent living community, ensuring that beneficiaries and their families can access the family portal.

The Candidate:

Being able to demonstrate a real interest in our residents, you will be responsible for supporting them with day to day use of Morden College equipment as well as their own equipment.

Whether you are an experience IT professional, or can demonstrate a keen interest in IT services, your ability to adapt and keep abreast of changes in technology are key to ensure that our residents are able to move with changes in services that might impact their lives. You will take responsibility for supporting them with Apps, setting up accounts and online access services, as well as providing guidance and support with hardware. You will also be key in helping them with their ongoing development of resident lead publications
