Job Title: Care Worker

Location: Blackheath, London, SE3 0PW.

Salary: £ £11.95 per hour (£1.11 enhancement when working nights)

Cullum Welch Court is part of Morden College a Charity dedicated to supporting older people. The home combines residential living with 24-hour expert care and support for individuals with complex health conditions, dementia, or palliative care needs.

Our home has a high staff to resident ratio with a versatile team built around the residents’ needs. As well as providing nursing care, we provide regular and stimulating activities. We are a strong community, committed to enabling those we support to have the highest quality of life, for the rest of their lives. Our residents have access to an extensive range of Morden College facilities, living in a beautiful environment with the opportunities to develop lasting friendships. Our care services were graded Good in all 5 CQC inspection area ratings and we have been granted Hospitality Assured status.

The role:

We are looking for experienced Care Workers to provide care that is person centred and based on the needs and wishes of our care home residents.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

As a Care Worker at Cullum Welch Court Care Home you will be respectful, understand the importance of life history, be able to establish meaningful connections and to positively influence the lives of Morden College residents by providing care that is compassionate and kind. You will be supportive of others, positive, approachable, and creative.

QCF Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care and a Care Certificate are essential for this role.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following:

  • To provide residents with a “good life” by promoting dignity, independence, choice, and fulfilment within a policy of managed risk taking.
  • To provide residents with comfort, security, and a sense of belonging, making a difference to their daily lives.
  • To provide outstanding, person centred care to residents by assessing, monitoring, and evaluating individual resident’s needs.
  • To promote the mental and physical wellbeing of individuals living with dementia, aiming to maximise their independence and meaningful engagement.
  • To update and maintain accurate care records including care plans and assessment documents.
  • To be a named worker for residents.

The Candidate:

You will ideally have a minimum of 6 months experience in a residential care setting; with the ability to work on your own as well as being integral to the team; and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts over a four-week period to ensure that the home is covered 365 days a year.
