Job Title: Care Leader

Location: Blackheath, London, SE3 0PW.

Salary: £14.95 per hour (£1.11 enhancement when working nights)

Job type: Permanent – Part Time (24 hours per week)

Cullum Welch Court is part of Morden College a Charity dedicated to supporting older people. The home combines residential living with 24-hour expert care and support for individuals with complex health conditions, dementia, or palliative care needs.

Our home has a high staff to resident ratio with a versatile team built around the residents’ needs. As well as providing nursing care, we provide regular and stimulating activities. We are a strong community, committed to enabling those we support to have the highest quality of life, for the rest of their lives. Our residents have access to an extensive range of Morden College facilities, living in a beautiful environment with the opportunities to develop lasting friendships. Our care services were graded Good in all 5 CQC inspection area ratings and we have been granted Hospitality Assured status.

The role:

You will feel like part of the Morden College family when you join us as a Care Leader at Cullum Welch Court. You will work alongside the Registered Nurse to administer medication and controlled drugs. You will be responsible for the induction and supervision of staff.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

You will develop a programme of activity that is tailored and meaningful that focuses on maximising wellbeing, independence, social engagement and stimulates the highest quality of life and enjoyment. You will be responsible for creating and effectively maintaining clear and accurate care records including care plans and assessments.

As a Care Leader, you will be visible with a leadership style that encourages positivity, is person centred and responsive to the needs of residents.

QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent is essential for this role.

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following:

  • To provide residents with a “good life” by promoting dignity, independence, choice, and fulfilment within a policy of managed risk taking.
  • To provide residents with comfort, security, and a sense of belonging, making a difference to their daily lives.
  • Be a visible leader, creating a culture that promotes the inclusion of people living with dementia in all social and occupational activities designed to enhance, stimulate, develop, and maintain the highest quality of life and enjoyment.
  • To provide professional leadership to the care team during any span of duty, in the absence of the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager.
  • To be responsible for the induction and supervision of staff, and the day to day running of the shift across all households.
  • To promote resident wellbeing, security and safety by assessing, monitoring and evaluating individual care needs in partnership with the resident.
