CDS-Wilman – a design and build company specialising in the creation of hospitality environments from concept through to completion seeks a talented Catering Design Specialist with a desire to work with a commercially led design team. The role will offer a balance between creative exploration and technical delivery through drawn detailed justifications. The successful candidate will, on occasion and following a 6 month probation period, be expected to drive all facets of the development with both the client and the internal team.
The role:
Working within a well-established multi-discipline business based in Trafford Park as part of a “concept to completion” Design and Build development team working in a Commercial retail hospitality development sector.
Required duties;
- Initial on site measured surveys.
- Feasibility studies with specific reference to commercial kitchens and the associated operations.
- Client-facing to establish the brief and continuous project development.
- Working closely with project stake holders to develop an approved layout.
- Working closely with specialist third party consultants and suppliers (including but not limited to; M&E designers, extraction experts, S.S fabricators etc.)
- Working closely with the in-house external sales team to offer assistance and expert guidance with regards to commercial catering environments.
- Analysing and adapting design (potentially from rough sketch plans or detailed pre-defined brands) in order to produce catering tender package.
- Creation of full commercial catering installation package including accurate plans, sections, elevations, service plans, service schedules and installation scoping documents.
- Working with clients and operational staff to negotiate sign off approval.
- Working with the in-house delivery team to ensure project is delivered on budget and to programme.
- Dependant on experience and (graduate – junior – mid-weight – senior) the job role will include a suitable level of ownership and responsibility for leading the project in terms of design and delivery.
Desirable;
- Prolific knowledge of catering equipment and a genuine passion for the development of well-considered commercial catering environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of commercial catering operations and the associated considerations.
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft office package including Word, Excel.
- On site measured surveying skills.
- Knowledge of building control and regulation implementation with specific reference to commercial catering environments.
- Knowledge of relevant EHO and Food Standards practices with regards to commercial catering design.
- Good understanding of all commercial catering M&E considerations and the ability to process relevant calculations regarding services.
- Suitable university or other formal design based qualification.
- Proficient time management and methodical working.
- Ability to work without supervision using own initiative when required.
- Ability to work as part of a development team when required.
- Ability to drive / attend site using public transport as and when required.
