Risk Mapping Technician

OCC Wymondham

£24,982 to £27,041 per annum

37 hours per week

Permanent contract

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Planning and Performance team at Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Risk Mapping Technician with a passion for interpreting building (and other) plans and producing risk specific information for our operational crews. This work is vital in ensuring that we keep our Firefighters safe when attending incidents throughout Norfolk, as well as providing them with the right information at the right time to enable them to keep the people of Norfolk safe. You will support the emergency service team and be responsible for a very important part of our service delivery and assurance, providing accurate and usable information through risk mapping and profiling.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to developing our understanding of the community risk priorities within Norfolk, as well as to collaborate on the development of strategies to mitigate these.

You should have the technical abilities and experience to use mapping and graphic drawing software to produce good quality plans and maps which Firefighters can access through mobile devices at incidents. Whilst previous experience in a similar field would be advantageous, we will consider candidates who have recently completed a course that directly relates to the technical skills required.

As this post is based at OCC Wymondham, the successful candidate will be required to undergo security vetting.

We want our people to be inspired and motivated to work well together, make the most of our workspaces, enjoy a healthy work-life balance, and deliver excellent services to Norfolk and its people. Flexibility is built into the way we work, with hybrid working (splitting your working time between one or more workplaces and agreed remote working location(s) like your home) a key feature for many roles. Our technology platform and equipment are first class enabling you to connect and collaborate remotely. We ask that you have in place good Broadband connectivity.
