Job Title: Materials’ Planner
Location: Nantgarw, Cardiff
Salary: £24,000 – £26,000 per annum + bonus + benefits package
Hours: 07:00 – 15:00, Mon – Fri

Biocatalysts develop and manufacture specialty enzymes from small to large scale quantities for a variety of industries such as food, flavor, fragrance, life science, pharma and fine chemicals. We are the only company offering a rapid, low-cost specialty enzyme service from discovery phase through to global shipment of regulatory compliant enzymes.
About the role:
You will primarily be responsible for scheduling production for the fermentation plant to ensure on-time fulfilment of customer projects.
Key Duties:
- Coordination and management of stock for all materials required for fermentation production to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time whilst maintaining target stock levels
- Maintain and manage raw material consumption in the most effective way to ensure minimal write off exposure
- Control and report on material variances against Bill of Materials vs actual demand, trends, loss analysis
- Planning labour hours for multiple projects, identifying process times, material demand and lead time to ensure on-time despatch for the customer
- Provide accurate needs of working hours and capacity levels to the Fermentation Manager
- Attending scheduled production meetings and communicate changes/issues to the fermentation production schedule
- Plan material demand and lead time in line with the fermentation production schedule and liaise with Supply Chain to confirm delivery dates
- Monitor stock levels and place orders as required
- Monitor and respond to changes on fermentation production schedule with minimal impact to customer promised delivery date
- Acting as key liaison point between the Project Manager, Fermentation production and Sales Order Processing/Logistics’ team
- Carry out monthly stock take and reporting updates
- Raise issues in relation raw material supply which may impact customer’s delivery expectations
- Materials’ handling to support fermentation production
- Support the planning and utilisation of equipment and people resource for 24/7 production in a cost-effective way
- Provide scheduling support for blended production during holidays/sickness absence
- Work in accordance with H&S, GMP, HACCP, QM systems
- Carry out the responsibilities stated in the Managing Director’s Health & Safety Policy detailed in paragraphs 9 and 10 of his management Directive
- Be conversant with and adopt the procedures stated in the Environmental Management System (EMS) Manual and it’s supporting document
About you:
You will bring strong industry experience in materials’ planning and scheduling within a manufacturing and/or supply chain environment along with Sage manufacturing or ERP/MRP system experience and five GCSE’s A-C grade (or equivalent) including Maths & English which are essential.
Essentials:
- 5 A-C GCSE’s Grade including Maths & English
- Demonstrable industry experience in materials’ planning/scheduling and/or supply chain
- Sage Manufacturing or ERP/MRP system
- Bills of materials
- Understanding of customer service/requirements
- IT Skills (MS Office) – including Excel
Desirable:
- Degree ideally in Materials’ Management/Supply
- Fork lift training certificate
- Working at height
- Project Management
- Food Safety and HACCP
- GMP
