Job Title: Media and Communications Officer

Salary: £20,000 – £25,000 per annum, to be negotiated depending on qualifications and previous experience

We’re looking for a Media and Communications Officer to:
- Create exciting content across multiple platforms.
- Work with journalists to create a media buzz about oral health.
- Build innovative PR campaigns.
- Cultivate and manage client relationships.
- Grow the charity’s digital content and social media presence.
- Engage audiences with effective and creative communications.
Core Accountabilities Details
Press and Media
- Producing regular content including press releases, features, statements and comments
- Responding to media enquiries by providing relevant information and setting up interviews
- Developing meaningful relationships with journalists and members of the press and media
- Leading the creation and development of other press and broadcast content
Delivery of Health Campaigns
- Assisting in the creation of new and innovative campaigns to promote better oral health
- Producing and creating campaign collateral and materials
- Engaging the general public, health professionals and the media in all Oral Health Foundation campaigns and initiatives
- Increasing participation and involvement in all Oral Health Foundation campaigns including events, fundraising, donating and activities
Developing the Oral Health Foundation Profile
- Enhancing the Oral Health Foundation’s image and reputation as a charity improving oral health
- Publicising and promoting the charity’s activities and events
- Positioning the Oral Health Foundation as a leader in oral health education and campaigner for mouth cancer action
- Increasing awareness of the charity’s Dental Helpline and charitable output
Corporate Relationships
- Increasing participation of Oral Health Foundation campaigns amongst dental, health and pharmaceutical organisations
- Informing external health related organisations about the existence of the Dental Helpline, Oral Health Foundation campaigns and other charity services and activities
- Identifying and developing opportunities for partnerships with corporate organisations
- Increasing the number of schools and workplaces aware of the Oral Health Foundation and it’s work while creating more opportunities for them to support the charity
Parliamentary Activities:
- Assisting in any appropriate and agreed activity concerning campaigns, mailings, parliamentary or lobbying activity and any event to raise the profile of the Oral Health Foundation.
- Attending parliamentary meetings and committees to push Oral Health Foundation policy.
- Taking part in consultations to drive health policy and reform.
- Developing closer political relationships.
Digital Media and Online:
- Developing the Oral Health Foundation’s online image and identity.
- Creating a range of online and digital content in multiple platforms.
- Implementing social media campaigns to promote the Oral Health Foundation.
- Building and distributing good quality e-communications.
Systems and Databases:
- Developing and maintaining Oral Health Foundation stakeholder databases.
- Evaluating and record press cuttings/responses to monitor volume of media response.
- Developing, updating and analysing campaign databases.
- Examine avenues to develop closer relationships with a variety of stakeholders in databases.

- Designing, writing and/or producing presentations, press releases, articles, leaflets, ‘in-house’ journals, reports, publicity brochures, information for web sites and promotional videos.
Ideal Qualification
- Degree in a suitable subject as to meet role requirements, or equivalent experience.
