Currock Engineering Co Ltd is looking to recruit a Buyer who has worked in an engineering environment, for a growing Defence and Aerospace Precision Engineering Company. The company has scheduled orders out to 2025 and works closely with OEM on classified R&D projects. This is an exciting role which involves managing suppliers and driving improvements to ensure the business maintains it delivery performance to its customers. Working closely with internal store personnel, production, and the Purchasing Manager.
Reason for Role:
The company has continued to grow, and therefore a role has opened for a Buyer to join the company’s purchasing team. We are also looking for a replacement in the coming months.
Responsibilities:
- Review stock, and support store personnel
- Run MRP forecast demand and stock requirements maintaining 95% stock availability to order
- Raise purchase orders from nominated suppliers
- Ensure teams are aware of stock constraints and availability
- Identify new products for sourcing to add to the current portfolio of products
- Continual review of the current product range and categories
- Negotiate costs
- Build close working relationships with suppliers ensuring effective communication and service standards are maintained
Experience/Background:
- Seasoned buying/procurement professional
- Hard goods purchasing experience
- Demonstrable third party working and relationship management
- Experience in a precision engineering environment ideal but not essential
- Commercially aware
- Manage reports, forecasting and stock holding
Essential Requirements:
- Generating request for quotations
- Dealing with incoming enquires from an established client base and nurturing those relationships
- Working closely with various internal departments
- Work with and understand technical, engineering drawings
- To have good working knowledge in an Engineering / Manufacturing environment
- To be dynamic have a passion and enthusiasm for business development and improvement
- To have a value-added approach when dealing with supplier
Desirable Experience:
- Machining knowledge
- Experienced in raw materials in the Defence and Aerospace sector
- It is important to have the right personality and approach to business. The approach to suppliers is important as is the engineering experience, support and training can be given to the right individual
