Stage One has been providing creative construction, manufacture and engineering for over 30 years. We deliver scenic and engineering solutions to a range of sectors including events, ceremonies, art installations, pavilions, theatre and TV & film. With over 14,000sqm of manufacturing space just outside of York, we are fully equipped to deliver unforgettable experiences for our clients across the globe.
We are looking for permanent trainees to start a fantastic career in either Bench Joinery, Metal Fabrication Painting, Machining, Paint Priming or Paint Spraying. Specific qualifications or experience do not matter as we will provide full training and support – we’re more interested in enthusiasm and appetite for learning than anything else. Responsibility and progression will be earned by demonstrating levels of competence, professionalism and diligence when supporting colleagues. These roles will be based in Tockwith North Yorkshire, but there is also the opportunity to take projects to site around the world.
The Role:
Joining our workshops as a trainee will involve working closely with the department team and Supervisors. Successful candidates will receive training, working in a busy workshop on bespoke items for exciting projects in a variety of sectors. Each project is unique so this will be a dynamic role with lots of variety.

- Trainee Fabricator/Welder
- Trainee Scenic Artist / Painter
- Prime Shop Trainee
- Trainee Paint Sprayer
- Trainee Machinists
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction of components as required ensuring that the highest standards in finish and tolerances in accordance with information supplied, are achieved using the correct
- Following day to day production plans in order to meet project
- Be able to solve problems and make decisions when
- Record all builds as complete on our internal database.
- Help to manage the quality control of finished items.
- Clearly communicate all relevant information including job progress and any problems and/or
- To be flexible and assist other Departments / Supervisors when
- Adhere to all Health & Safety Regulations and promote a safe working environment by actively incorporating H&S into everyday
- Actively pursue self-development to increase job knowledge and
- Maintain Housekeeping standards by actively promoting and following 5S and Environmental

Additional information: 7.30am-4.00pm, with regular overtime, which may include weekends
