Currock Engineering Co Ltd is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager, for a growing Defence and Aerospace Precision Engineering Company. The company has scheduled orders out to 2025 and works closely with OEM on classified R&D projects. This is an exciting role which involves developing existing clients and securing new clients. Working closely with internal engineers in solving production challenges and creating new processes to maximise output. This strategic, collaborative approach is what makes the company a key partner with renowned companies and leaders in their field.

Reason for Role:

The company has continued to grow, and therefore a role has opened for a Business Development Manager to join the company sales team. This is a UK wide, external sales role working across industries, but when you are not meeting customers, you will be office-based at the premises in Chelmsford.

Job Specification:

The role primarily involves developing new business opportunities, networking with prospective clients, and selling the company’s technical capabilities. Typical applications include advanced 5 axis complex machining.

You will develop long-term customer relationships, discuss technical content to develop solutions, pursue enquiries following conversations with engineers and production personnel and you will report directly to the Managing Director. The company is a tight-knit, team-based company so teamwork is a key focus of the role.

This role will involve targeting client lists and potentially bring contacts from previous roles where possible thus creating an exciting business plan to target areas to increase business.

The role will involve travelling the country meeting different clients new and existing with an emphasis on new client development and relationships.

Essential Requirements:

  • Generating new business.
  • Dealing with incoming enquires from an established client base and nurturing those relationships.
  • Working closely with various internal departments, you will then prepare & present quotes and supporting information to customers.
  • Negotiate with customers and ensure you get full and detailed understanding of their requirements.
  • Work with and understand technical, engineering models and drawings.
  • To have good working knowledge in an Engineering / Manufacturing environment.
  • To be dynamic have a passion and enthusiasm for business development and improvement.
  • To have a value-added approach when dealing with clients and value networking/ client relationships and collaboration.

Desirable Experience:

  • Machining / Automation / Digital Transformation Background.
  • Experienced in the Defence and Aerospace sector.
  • It is important to have the right personality and approach to business development. The approach to clients is important as is the technical engineering experience, support and training can be given to the right individual.
  • This role is open to an ambitious Sales Engineer who has experience in the Precision Machining Engineering Field and can display a strong customer network.

  • Car or car allowance.
  • Commission structure: Yearly bonus dependent on company profit.
