The Role
We are looking to appoint a motivated forward-thinking person to work in the Applications Support and Development Team.
At Walsall Council ICT, we support and develop a wide range of business applications whist pursuing an ambitious program of work to improve our digital capability. We are looking for someone who can help us develop our websites and servers to meet user needs. You will be responsible for making sites user friendly, attractive and secure. You will also be working on developing a wide range of digital solutions, to drive forward our Digital by Design Agenda
About you:
As a Senior Application Support and Development Specialist you will provide support for ICT applications used by the various business areas of Walsall Council. You will also be required to carry out software development activities relating to these Business Applications, build easy to use, functional websites and ensure it is up to date with existing web standards. You will also provide guidance and leadership to junior members of the team and/or project teams.
You will have experience in a 3rd line support and development role and be familiar with several of the following development technologies: Visual Studio 2015 or higher; .Net Framework; C#; Model View Controller (MVC); DevOps; PowerApps; CSS; HTML; PHP ; SQL; Transact SQL; CMS;; Power BI; and CRM systems.
You will be required to work independently dealing with support calls and cooperatively with colleagues to resolve outstanding calls and/or improve software provision.

For this role the successful candidate(s) must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
