About the Role:
This role offers an exciting opportunity to be the principal adviser to the Council and provide the leadership and direction of the Council’s key enabling People and Organisational Development service and delivery of its people strategy.
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Head of People and Organisational Development to take a lead role to ensure that the Council is equipped to respond to the challenge of modernisation and change, in particular drive a strong corporate focus to link new and emerging policy to change management, organisational development, cultural change as well as continuous improvement and the ongoing efficiency agenda.
About you:
The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing the Council’s operational and strategic level response in providing a comprehensive People and Organisational Development service, including handling and overseeing complex employee relations issues, employee engagement and leading negotiations and consultations with the trade unions.
You will be an inspiring, engaging and influential leader, an effective communicator with the gravitas to build and sustain relationships with senior stakeholders, and be driven to achieve challenging objectives. You will have experience at a senior level in the management and delivery of People and Organisational Development services including the motivation and management of building and developing cross-functional teams.
You will also lead on all ‘people’ issues associated with Local Government Reorganisation/major change and provide leadership, support, advice and guidance throughout.
You must also be effective in managing, maintaining and improving services and be able to promote and embed a culture of financial and commercial awareness.
