Job Title: Senior Care Assistant: 3 positions

Salary: £10.59/hr then £11.28/hr (after the completion of Medication Training and assessment)
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
- 33.75 hrs/wk, including alternate weekends and flexibility to cover nights on occasions.
- 20.25 hrs/wk, including alternate weekends and flexibility to cover nights on occasions.
- 33.75 hrs/3 nights/wk, NIGHTS, including two weekends/month.
Early shift 7.15am-2pm, Late shift 1.45pm-8.30pm, Nightshift 8.15pm-7.30am
The role:
To promote the residents life skills and support the individual to explore the daily function of ordinary living, therefore enhancing the Client’s confidence and independence. To assist and support mentoring and support of new Care Assistants during their induction as directed by the Service Manager, to ensure good practice and a thorough induction is provided that enables them to quickly become effective in the whole role of Care Assistant. To uphold the Catholic ethos, policies and practices of Marian House Care Home as laid down in the policies and procedures presented by the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, local Social Services and the Care Quality Commission.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Senior Care Assistants will supervise care workers and will take responsibility for the smooth running of the service.
- Ensuring all care is delivered to a high standard, and documented within the residents’ care plan.
- Respond to emergencies, and provide guidance and support to care workers.
- Senior Assistants are responsible for individuals’ overall comfort and wellbeing and help people who need care and support to live as independently as possible.
- Administer medication to the residents as required.
- Provide interest and activities to stimulate and engage the residents.
- Monitoring the residents’ conditions by taking temperature, pulse, respiration and weight.
- Contributing to record keeping.
- Personal care – assisting the residents with a number of tasks, such as getting into and out of bed, washing, bathing and dressing, or, where necessary, providing continence support.
- Provide help with tasks and chores around Marian House such as vacuuming, making beds, help with eating and preparing meals.
- Responsible for helping residents to manage their medication after the appropriate training has been provided.
- Become someone the residents can talk to and is a good listener.
The Candidate:
- Must have a qualified NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care – Adults
- Must have a clear DBS.
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for this very special
- Applicant for this position must have previous relevant experience, posses strong interpersonal skills and be able to have a clear DBS check
