Job Title: CAD Technician

KUSCO (Kingston University Service Company Ltd) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Kingston University providing Facilities Management Services (cleaning, caretaking, maintenance, reception/telecoms and post, security and management of halls of residence) across all University sites, currently a total of 86 buildings.
KUSCO is responsible to ensure that the University is compliance with all current legislation and statutory testing.
The Role:
You will be responsible for reviewing all infrastructure records, updating these records as required.
You will support the Estates Asset department for reviewing all drawings and schematics. Assist where required for projects.
This role involves operating as part of the KUSCO team, and so requires working alongside others with a positive, flexible, mobile, customer-oriented attitude to the work across all sites, in a spirit of teamwork and mutual support.
Most importantly, it also involves supporting the Company’s image by behaving in ways which are consistent with KUSCO values. Key Responsibilities:
- To provide a schedule of works and up to date drawings, for implementation of statutory and legislative testing
- To ensure that all works conform to current building regulations, guidelines and accepted codes of practice
- To ensure regular progress reports and all relevant correspondence are produced and maintained to Company standards
- To provide assistance in relevant areas where needed across the Company
- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as may from time to time become necessary
- Create high-quality detailed technical drawings, plans and make modifications to existing drawings
- Use a variety of CAD software programmes to create designs in 2D and 3D models
- Liaise with architects, engineers and designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing and construction technicians
- Provide accurate, detailed and to scale drawings
- Conduct site visits and surveys when required
- Appoint specialists to undertake surveys as required
- To liaise with the University faculty in planning and implementation of all surveys
- Present working drawings for use in all stages of the project, tender, manufacture/construction and installation
- Maintain accurate records
The Candidate:
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience
- Previous experience in a similar position and environment
- Proven knowledge of CAD operations and procedures
- Excellent communication skills, ability to listen to problems and to explain clearly actions to be taken
- Experience with configuration and maintenance of software packages
- IT development and implementation skills, including tests and producing clear documentation
- Ability to analyse problems and produce achievable solutions
- Ability to manage individual workload and work as part of a team
- Ability to travel to different sites and building to be able to measure structures
- Flexibility and motivation with good organisational skills and ability to work with little direct supervision
- Recognised qualification in CAD operating procedures
- Previous experience in a building or ME background
