Job Title: Operations Planner Apprentice
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £18,000 whilst training. The salary will increase to £24,000 upon your first complete year in the role.
Job Type: 31.5 hours per week allowing 5.5 hours of flexibility each week depending on demand of the workload.

The role:
We are a company that is going through exciting expansion and we are looking for talented Operations Planners to join us on our growth journey.
You will be responsible for managing resource plans for Traincrew at a designated area of the business, which then enables the business to deliver its operational requirements.

We’ll offer you a 6 month training programme to ensure you have the right skills and knowledge to perform your role and you’ll also be paired with a mentor to support your development. You’ll also get to achieve a Level 4 Institute of Leadership and Management Qualification in Operational Management to give you a broader understanding of the industry and prepare you for future growth in the Railway.
This is a role that will give you a multitude of business skills and a greater understanding of how business operates – gaining an overview of how our customers and orders materialises into operational delivery.
You’ll also get to enjoy the satisfaction of getting the right resources in place for the week to week, to ensure our customers and staff are happy.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
As an integral part of the Planning team you will provide support to plan work in your designated area, ensuring our staff have the right competence and availability to cover the work for our customers.
Once your training period has been completed your regular tasks will include;
- Diagramming and rostering train crew taking cognisance of contract hours, route learning and terms and conditions for our staff.
- Being central contact for holidays and roster queries from Traincrew in your designated area.
- Formulating a logistical train plan to allocating resources to fulfil customer orders.
- Producing diagrams that are accurate and compliant with rostering codes of practice.
- Ensuring that the GB Rail freight produces a cost effective and timely service for its customers.
- Ensuring that critical business KPI’s are achieved.
- Record all accommodation instances and lodging allowances for the finance department.
- Populate train planning grids as required.
The Candidate:
- You will have thrived in administrative roles with specific focus on working independently but maintaining the ability to work as a member of a team
- Ability to pre-empt and solve problems.
- A clear and confident communicator.
- Competent computer / IT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure on own initiative whilst maintaining levels of accuracy.
