The Oaksmere is a lovingly restored country house, set in 17 acres of Suffolk parkland just outside of the market town of Eye, Diss. Boasting a Victorian walled kitchen garden, which is at the heart of our menus, alongside an on-site butchery, we are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated chefs of all levels to join the existing kitchen team.
We have a range of dining areas including a public house, three private dining rooms, a spacious terrace with children’s play area, and a bright orangery style restaurant with open pas. We also have an event marquee where we host a range of weddings and private events.
We are able to offer flexible hours to work, including a mixture of daytime prep shifts and evenings/weekend shifts in service. We believe in simple, honest food cooked well, with our main emphasis being on home and locally grown produce, locally reared and slaughtered meats, and seasonal, high quality produce. Alongside our menu you will also have the option to be creative with specials and working with the head chef to bring your own ideas into our current concept.
The Role:
Responsible to the Head Chef for the efficient running of the kitchen. Flexibility to run a section in service and the preparation of food and dishes for all sections
Key Requirements:
- To be responsible to the Head Chef for food production in The Oaksmere and meet the highest of standards as required by the Head Chef.
- In addition to the core cooking operations and preparation of food daily, you will also be required to work for events held within The Oaksmere marquee.
- To assist the Head Chef with the responsibility of the serviceability of all kitchen related fixed & non-fixed equipment.
- To take responsibility for own Health & Safety and cleanliness of your section.
The Candidate:
- Knowledge of basic food hygiene.
- Experience of working in a fast paced kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication skills.
