Since then the firm has grown to employ 50 motivated engineers, scientists and supporting professionals across the U.K from their regional offices in Belfast, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh, Inverness, and Liverpool.

The firm is seeking to recruit a Senior or Principal Environmental Planner to join their growing team, with the potential to base yourself at any of the U.K. offices (Glasgow is preferred).
The Role:
The current core environmental planning team includes EIA, landscape and visual assessment, graphics and visualisation. The wider consultancy team includes noise, ecology, air quality, water and land contamination specialists, which the environmental planning team have access to. Current projects include renewables and building developments, for industrial and commercial clients and they’re engaged with delivering on the net zero agenda.
They’re seeking an individual to complement current expertise in order to service new opportunities and grow the team, with a start date around May/June 2021.
Due to Covid, you will primarily work from home in the short term, unless this is unavailable to you. You will be provided with the IT equipment and software/services required to facilitate your efficient home working. Long term arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate – they are a flexible employer and are willing to consider any arrangement that is mutually agreeable.
The Candidate:
Qualifications:
- A BSc or MSc in EIA / Environmental Planning/ Town Planning discipline
- Membership of IEMA or RTPI (full or associate or be a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv)) or Registered EIA Practitioner with IEMA, or working towards this accreditation
- A successful track record of managing projects through the planning process, including early feasibility through to discharging planning conditions
- Experience of EIA Project Management and ES/ EIA Report delivery
- A thorough understanding of UK planning systems and EIA, including best practice guidelines, planning processes and environmental assessment methods
- Excellent report writing and client liaison skills
- Excellent business development skills and experience of winning work
- Experience of successfully managing in-budget and on-time projects
- Adaptable and flexible combined with technical excellence
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience with regards to many of the following areas/disciplines, preferably in a consultancy role:
- Experience of leading projects through the planning system (including appeals)
- Experience of co-ordinating planning and EIA projects for residential, renewables, minerals, waste or industrial developments
- Experience of on-shore and off-shore EIA projects
- Leading the co-ordination and delivery of EIA and SEA projects
- Demonstrable experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
- Authoring of Environmental Reports, Planning Statements, Design and Access Statements and Pre-Application Consultation Reports to the highest standard, in accordance with project timescales and best practice guidelines
- Project management
- Experience of undertaking community engagement
- Effective communication with clients, colleagues, partner organisations, statutory and non-statutory consultees and sub-contractors
- Appointing, managing and coordinating inputs from the range of specialist sub-consultants, and ensuring that their outputs meet the required standards
- Preparation of fee proposals and bids
- Marketing-business development of planning and EIA projects
The selected candidate will be a ‘self-starter’ and commercial awareness and successful track record is essential. You’ll also be responsible for marketing and business development activities to support the workstream of the environmental planning team.
