Job Title: SHEQ Director

The Company is an independent organisation delivering telecommunications services across mobile, fixed and optical networks.
They currently have an opening for a SHEQ Director to ensure that the company remains compliant with H&S legislation by actively implementing and monitoring its processes and systems. You’ll be a member of the senior management team that defines the strategy, drives implementation, and monitors the performance of the health, safety, environment, and quality programs to meet the company ambition of being a leader in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the strategy and direction for the SHEQ programs for the business
- Embed behaviours and values in the company culture that support the SHEQ agenda and are in keeping with the company objective to drive continuous improvement
- Determine the appropriate managements systems standards, certification and levels of implementation that will ensure that the business meet customer expectations, function to a high standard but not burden the business with unnecessary process
- Develop and implement programs to maintain high standards of health, safety, environment, and quality that ensures the business maintains legal compliance, meets, and exceeds customer expectation and work to positively support the business
- Development of systems and tools to meet the requirements of the business as it further develops.
- Establish mechanisms to measure performance, define achievable targets against which to report progress
- Establish a robust process to ensure that all serious incidents, failures, and events are thoroughly investigated, root cause analysis is completed, and action plans defined and delivered
- Act as the main point of contact for customers, external parties and enforcing agencies on SHEQ matters
- Ensure that the business is aware of and in a position to respond to changes in legislation, customer requirements and changes in industry practice through networking and analysis
- Statistical reports identifying, measuring, and resolving significant risks or nonconformities
- Manage and drive the annual SHEQ objectives and business initiatives
- Development and introduction of systems and tools to meet the requirements of business in the most effective manner
- Develop and foster relationships with Nokia, clients, and the general supply chain
The Candidate:
- CMIOSH or working towards
- Good understanding of risk and quality management methodologies
- Practical working knowledge of ISO management systems – ISO9001/ TL9000 essential – OHSAS 45001/ 18001 / ISO14001 extremely beneficial
- Holds a valid full UK Driving Licence
- In depth understanding of key risk areas in the telecoms industry – working at height, road safety, construction operations, electrical work
- Strong leadership, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to influence at all organisational levels
- Strategy development and implementation of sensible risk – based solutions
- Experience of building and maintaining customer relationships is essential
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably with telecoms or similar multisite and or construction / utilities experience
- Incident, event failure investigation and corrective action development, with customer / external stakeholder or enforcing authority involvement preferable
- Proficient experience in planning and project management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
