Job Title: Transport Supervisor
Location: Harlow
Salary: £24,000 starting salary increasing to £26,000 after successful completion of probationary period
Position: Full Time, Permanent (45 hours per week)
Job Purpose:
As a Transport Supervisor you are able to direct and control allocated areas of transport activity, meeting defined objectives and day-to-day operational requirements. To contribute to the identification and exploitation of improvement opportunities on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities:
- To ensure the smooth running of the allocated transport activity, ensuring appropriate resources (people, equipment) are available to meet planned activity levels
- Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation affecting transport operations
- Be required to assist in managing a fleet of 45 vehicles and up to 40 drivers
- Maintain and enhance effective working relationships with drivers and transport staff
- Contribute to the identification, evaluation and where appropriate implementation, of improvement initiatives within the Transport operation
- Ensure staff work to the processes and procedures relating to the Transport operation
- Assist in the recruitment of driving staff as required
- Monitoring staff performance levels, providing feedback on achievement to the shift manager and helping to identify improvement opportunities
- Ensure vehicle maintenance schedules are adhered too as well as managing daily defects
- Conduct investigations to determine causes of accidents to improve safety procedures
- Ensure all maintenance work and repairs are completed on time, with labour, parts costs and compliance paperwork uploaded accurately onto the Fleet Management System (Fleetcheck) prior to closing down job
The successful Candidate will have/ be:
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and adhering to strict KPI’s
- Computer literate and be competent using Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook
- Good organisational attributes are key
- Strong people management skills, and the ability to work with different personality types
- Flexible with a supportive attitude
- Able to work under pressure and multi-task
- An understanding of EU drivers’ hours rules and regulations, desired
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Full UK driving licence
- A Professional approach, Reliable and dependable with good time keeping skills
- The ability to people manage and undertake 1-2-1 meetings
- Process driven and problem solving
- 2+ years’ experience working within the transport industry, desirable
- Able to Supervise a team of up to 45 employees with the support of the assistant Transport Manager and Transport Operations Manager
