Job Title: Cleaning Team Leaders
Location: Kingston upon Thames (KT1 2EE)
Salary: £22,290 gross per annum – pro rata
Job type: Full-Time / Part-Time, Permanent
This job involves a fair amount of contact with students and staff and other users of University facilities, and it is important that the team leader can handle this contact appropriately.
They work with minimum supervision and are required to use their own judgement and discretion to provide acceptable standards of service. They operate as part of the cleaning Team and are expected to be flexible with respect to their sites and working areas.
All areas of the University are cleaned to high standards and may include offices, classrooms, laboratories, lecture theatres, computer rooms and workshops. They are expected to adopt a quality approach to all aspects of work, make sure things look right and make every attempt to work well in a team with their colleagues
The Role:
The Campus Services Supervisor will discuss any changes or change of duties with the post holder in advance of them being implemented.
Employees are required to adopt a flexible attitude to the work they undertake and to their place of work. Employees will not be expected to carry out tasks beyond their level of ability or competence.
Key Responsibilities:
- To insure cleaning standards meet the Client Service Level Agreements
- To supervise cleaners in the daily cleaning operation
- To allocate and organise cleaners in absence of the Campus Services Supervisor
- To carry out cleaning task as required by daily staffing levels
- To work with the day cleaning team as instructed by the Campus Services supervisor
- To insure cleaning is carried out in a safe manner and as per BICs training
- Keep local storage areas clean and tidy
- Take full responsibilities for keys issued and develop a detailed knowledge of their working areas
- To insure cleaners use and store equipment as per the BICs standards
- Report to the Campus Services Supervisor routine supply requirements, defects in building fabric including all teaching rooms and equipment, safety exposures
- Undertake training, to develop knowledge and skills needed for the job and be aware of safe and efficient operation of equipment, and regulations concerning security and Health and Safety
The Candidate:
- Previous experience in a Team Leader/Supervisor role
- 3 years cleaning experience
- BICs qualification or equivalent
- Flexibility – able to change routines, and adapt working practices
- Initiative – able to work with little supervision and decide how best to deal with situations
- Drive for quality
Working Hours:
There are two positions for this role:
Part-Time – 20 hours per week (early morning): £12,048 per annum gross
Full-Time – 37 hours per week (9 to 5pm): £22,290 per annum gross
