Job Title: Painter and Decorator / Sprayer
Location: Sittingbourne
Salary: £32,000 – £50,000 subject to experience and O/T worked
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time.
Experience level: Decorating experience essential – spraying experience preferred.
Job description:
At ESM we manage the design and build of exhibition spaces to create an engaging and memorable stand for our clients and their brands. All work is undertaken in house at our Kent headquarters by our experienced team who have been working on exhibition stands and trade fairs for a number of years, bringing both expertise and the latest trends to every project.
We produce some genuinely beautiful work from our fully equipped factory and offices in Sittingbourne; working on some fantastic projects for a number of agencies, but also a large volume of work for exhibitors looking to stand out at their events predominantly in the UK.
Our staff are tremendously proud of what we do (our sprayer has just retired after 34 years), and this is a great chance to join a team that set the highest of standards and help us further improve the service we provide to our clients.
The Position:
ESM are seeking a painter and decorator to add to our team in 2025 and join a team of 3 in the finishing department. We finish the majority of our work in emulsion, however wallpapering, graphic wrapping and so on are other finishes sometimes used. We also spray in-house via our spray booth and this demands an exceptional amount of time prepping, filling, sanding, and finally priming and top coating in the paint provided.
Our work is painted and prepped in our factory, but it is commonplace for our decorators to assist with installations and sometimes breakdown of stands throughout the UK and sometimes Europe – helping not just with painting and decorating, but also building, and perhaps driving, cleaning, and all other tasks that go into building a stand (particularly small stands where the team sent to site is smaller).
Key tasks may include:
- Filling and preparing surfaces for decoration
- Decoration (via rollers, brushes etc) of panels and units
- Protection and Wrapping
- Hard filling and sanding/prep for spraying
- Priming and top coating of surfaces
- Ordering of paint and materials
- Colour matching and quality management
The Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, and high standards, a determination to provide the most premium finish possible – as we are well known for our high quality of workmanship. A willingness to learn spraying if this is not a skill you already have (we would prefer some experience already), whilst a steady hand and good physical fitness are essential. You should be open for overtime, as our work can be seasonal and demands at busy times are high and relish the opportunity to travel and work at venues across the UK and sometimes Europe where overnight expenses and accomodation will be provided.
A hardworking positive mindset is essential as we are a close team and embrace those who look to work together in order to achieve the best possible end result for our clients.
Benefits:
- 25 days holiday a year
- Competitive hourly rate and O/T rate subject to experience
- Company Pension
- Friendly but fast paced working environment
