Job Title: Junior Programme Manager – Central Government

Location: London / Hybrid

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum based upon experience plus discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits

Overview of techUK’s Central Government Programmes:

Central Government:

techUK’s Central Government Programme represents the supplier community to the public sector, and aims to lead debate on new technologies, optimise use of existing capabilities and provide a forum for central government departments to engage with industry. The programme espouses tech as a solution to public sector challenges, facilitates market engagement and helps make the public sector an easier market to operate in. Additionally, it seeks to help government become a more intelligent customer for tech, ultimately driving value for money and improved public services for citizens.

Purpose of the Role:

The purpose of this role is to support techUK’s Central Government Programme.

This position provides an opportunity to work with senior level representatives from both the tech industry and Government to support the delivery of market engagement opportunities. This role would suit an articulate and enthusiastic learner, with the ability to support the delivery of projects and events. Experience of working with industry, the UK technology sector, government, policy development, and other stakeholders would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the capability to work across multiple different workstreams, engaging with a variety of industry and government stakeholders and will develop a good understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the wider tech sector.

This role requires someone who has great organisational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the set-up and execution of events, briefings and meetings;
  • Support the development, implementation and management of the programme’s work on social value in tech procurement;
  • Liaise with other techUK teams to identify and exploit cross-fertilisation opportunities with other programmes within techUK;
  • Provide administrative support to the work of various committees and other relevant techUK forums;
  • Present techUK as the voice of the technology industry to Government Departments and key stakeholders, whilst building new relationships and furthering programme priorities;
  • Support the development, implementation and communication of techUK activities in a way that meets the needs of existing and potential new members;
  • Promote techUK activities through insights, opinions, social media activities and PR activities; and
  • Any other duties that might from time to time be required by the Head of Programme and the techUK leadership team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

Knowledge and Competencies:

Essential Knowledge and Experience:

  • Strong interest in innovation, the use of technology in the public sector and the UK tech industry;
  • A self-motivated individual with a positive can-do approach who is comfortable working with competing demands and responding to tight deadlines;
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and policy information effectively to a range of audiences; and
  • A team player who has experience of managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and is comfortable working with senior individuals in industry.

Desirable Knowledge and Experience:

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the Government procurement landscape and the positioning and role of trade bodies;
  • Good high-level knowledge of technology and workings of the technology sector;
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the public sector tech market;
  • Experience providing administrative support to a committee;
  • Have capability to use the tools and technologies techUK provides; including but not limited to Microsoft Office, CRM, mobile and home working software, web tools and social media.

Additional Information:

This is a full time role based out of techUK’s London offices, however techUK operates a flexible working policy.

This role profile is a guide to the work that is required but does not form part of any contract of employment and may change from time to time to reflect changing circumstances.

The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK prior to the commencement of employment.
