Job Title: Engineering Supervisor

Salary: £40,000 – £42,000 per year depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, FTC to Permanent
Schedule: 5 days over Monday – Saturday
9 hours shift patterns:
- From 7 am to 4 pm
- From 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm

This is an office-based role. Candidates must be based locally and able to commute to our London office or plan to relocate before starting work.
Your objectives:
- Provide team leadership to achieve high standards of maintenance for all sites;
- Manage and maintain a highly valued Maintenance Team;
- Liaise with other services, internal and external customers, and the public in the provision of high standards of maintenance.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Effectively manage a dispersed workforce, assess training needs, and provide ‘on the job’ advice and guidance to develop the engineering team;
- Effectively organise work schedules and deploy the workforce
- Carry out regular periodic checks as scheduled to plant and equipment, be aware of the required results from these checks, and analyse and report faults arising from unsatisfactory results;
- Be responsible for carrying out the routine servicing and planned maintenance of production equipment and building services as directed;
- Diagnose faults and signs of deterioration from observations made during routine servicing, and report these faults using the appropriate paperwork;
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the service programme, making recommendations for changes, based on experience from breakdowns and the operating conditions of the machine;
- Determine from previous documentation minor trends in deterioration of plant and equipment and act upon this;
- Ensure that all paperwork as supplied relating to your duties, such as service schedules, etc is completed legibly and kept up to date and readily accessible;
- Determine that all plant and equipment serviced by you are in a safe and reliable condition before being returned to service.
- Be aware of the relevant regulations regarding the electrical and mechanical safety of plant and equipment, and the test results that you would expect from equipment in a safe and satisfactory condition. Make the company aware of changes in regulations or any areas of which you are not familiar and require further training;
- Withdraw from service any equipment that you can prove to be unsafe, to employ the correct procedures for locking off, signposting, and reporting such problems;
- Diagnose and repair minor faults to production equipment and building services;
- Be aware of spares and equipment required for your work, and advise of shortages and specific items required for certain tasks. Locate spares and equipment from existing stock;
- Have an understanding of the normal operation of all production equipment, specifically those serviced by you;
- Actively assist in alterations to the building services and fabric on an opportunity basis and as directed by the engineering manager;
- Locate the relevant details of suppliers, manufacturers, contractors, etc. to resolve an urgent problem in the absence of the engineering manager. Communicate with machinery manufacturers as required to carry out your work;
- Ad hoc tasks and reasonable requests as and when required;
- Ensure company compliance with regulatory requirements and guidelines for food safety, food hygiene, Good Manufacturing Practices, and quality;
- Assist with the control and filing of paperwork planned maintenance, and any other contractor-related documents.
