The Role:
The post-holder will be based on our Writtle campus and be responsible for providing one-to-one and small group support to students across a wide range of disciplines. In addition, the successful candidate will also work closely with priority course teams across all our campuses to enhance outcomes at an individual student level through the development of proactive interventions to encourage continuation and engagement with studies. Post-holders will also teach at UG and/or PGT level and carry out research as applicable to this role, and in a cognate discipline with the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
We seek an individual who adopts a student-centred approach, who is approachable, encouraging, empathetic and tenacious. You’ll have demonstrable experience of being able to engage students (or individuals) who are considered ‘hard to engage’ and be able to provide short term support to students who might be struggling, and signpost or assist them to access specialist support services. You will have experience of building and maintaining professional networks and be able to build rapport and shared understanding with colleagues from different spheres. You will be able to demonstrate an ability to be responsive, think innovatively and manage change, and be able to meet deadlines, sometimes under pressure. You’ll have an ability to understand and present data, aligned to the institution’s Key Performance Indicators, work co-operatively, as part of a team and as part of the Faculty/University and demonstrate a commitment to our values.
With a Degree, you will have previous experience in a student-facing teaching role at HE level and/or professional experience with knowledge of student information and learning management systems (e.g. SITS, Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard) and the ability to collate, analyse, monitor and present data. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work co-operatively, as part of a team.
