Job Title: Director of People & Culture
Location: Warlingham, Surrey
Salary: £59,868 to £65,755 FTE – depending on experience
Job Type: Part time role working in the region of 21 hours per week over 52 weeks per annum but we are willing to consider flexibility for the right candidate, including working term time only.

Our Trust was formed in 2017 by schools within the Tandridge district. We are a cross-phase Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) currently comprising one secondary, four primary schools and one infant school. Three of our schools have nursery provision. Job Purpose:
- Be accountable for the development and implementation of a progressive HR strategy that serves the Trust’s current needs and supports its future development.
- Provide strategic leadership of HR across the Trust and provide advice and guidance to the Trustees and Executive Board to shape, develop and deliver effective HR systems and processes. Ensure the Trust is fully compliant with HR and people management legislation, guidance and best practice.
- Lead the HR Team in the design, structure and delivery of effective HR practices and interventions. Support the HR Manager to ensure the effective day to day operation of the Trust’s HR function and the effective use of HR data to maximise efficiency.
- Work collaboratively with Headteachers and the HR team to support and guide them through all aspects of HR policy and procedure, including attendance management, safeguarding, managing capability and conduct, dispute resolution, recruitment and selection, reward and recognition, professional growth and training development, induction and on/off boarding. This includes monitoring that policy and procedures are being followed within individual schools and designing and maintaining appropriate data reporting processes for key HR metrics.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of personal data ensuring compliance with the GDPR and DPA.
- Work with colleagues to promote and maintain high standards of leadership and technical support. Oversee and develop all Trust and School policies related to HR. Be responsible for a safe, healthy and positive office environment.
- Proactively engage with the appraisal process and participate in all aspects of staff development. Attend relevant courses and actively seek to broaden knowledge and skills relevant to responsibilities. Take responsibility for own career choices and actively seek CPD opportunities.
- Contribute to the Trust’s culture and development by ensuring that you fulfil your professional responsibilities and are carrying out duties effectively. Act as a role model for Trust values and support senior colleagues to do the same.
- All support staff are expected to undertake other reasonable duties in support of and to contribute to the smooth operations of our schools. For example, this may include exam invigilation, accompanying school trips, first aid duties etc.
