We are actively seeking a passionate and experienced restaurant manager to spearhead the food and beverage offering at The Oren. Responsible for the entire Food & Beverage operation including training of service staff, the organization and cleanliness throughout the entire food service operation. Provides high service standards that assures residents, guests, and family members’ satisfaction including in-apartment dining and special events. Meets all company policies and procedures. Maintains all department expenses with-in the budgeted guidelines based on census in accordance with all company standards and operating procedures. Promotes resident satisfaction through understanding their preferences. Trains and develops staff for growth and opportunity to meet the demand of qualified employees needed for continued company success
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Services Provision:
- Trains, directs and schedules food and beverage staff. Responsible for maintaining labour hours as determined by budget
- Provide written and verbal performance evaluations/Reviews
- Set objectives and accomplish them in a timely manner
- Supervises and practices, “meet, seat, & greet” protocol while using resident and guest names whenever possible
- Supervises all aspects of Food & Beverage operations including mis-en-place, service, cleanliness, opening/closing procedures, customer service, quality and standards
- Hands on operator
- Communicates clearly with kitchen staff to meet resident requests and “exceptional service standards”
- Recognizes performance issues and provides corrective solutions
- Maintains china, glass, linen, and small wares inventory
- Attends weekly department head meetings
- Inspects all food & beverage areas on a daily basis to ensure facilities and equipment are clean, well maintained and replaced if necessary
- Checks the food & beverage outlets’ reservation lists, arrival list, events guest list, and VIP list to ensure that own staff is aware of VIP guests and service volumes
- Audits food & beverage services and quality on a regular basis and develops and implements strategies to improve results
- Plans and co-ordinates in-house activities and package plans with Head Chef, Sales and Front of House Manager
- Approves all wine purchasing, and other food & beverage items in accordance with corporate quality standards
- Promote the brand in the local community through word-of-mouth and restaurant events
- Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations
Miscellaneous:
- Assists colleagues to perform similar or related jobs when necessary
- Ensures guest satisfaction by attending to their requests and inquires courteously and efficiently
- Accepts flexible work schedule necessary for uninterrupted service to all guests
- Maintains own working area, materials and company property clean, tidy and in good shape; reports defective materials and equipment to appropriate individual
- Continuously seeks to endeavour and improve the department’s efficient operation, and knowledge of own job function
- Is well updated on, and possesses solid knowledge of the following: Community fire, bomb and emergency procedures & Community and safety policies and procedures
Customer Service:
- Interacts in a positive, empathetic manner with seniors, their families, referral sources, and the community at large. Identifies and responds to the customer’s needs in an appropriate manner
- Demonstrates good knowledge regarding the senior housing industry
- Works alongside other staff members with cooperation and respect
- Answers the phone with a courteous and prompt response
- Provides exceptional service and quality products to all residents and guests
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in a similar managerial role within the culinary field. Hotel, hospitality, and leisure experience are desirable
- Strong leadership and management skills, and a commitment to cultivating a positive working environment
- Works both independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrates a warm, engaging, and patient manner
- Can demonstrate use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Internet skills
- Knowing how to recognize and respond to an aquatic emergency
