SW9 Community Housing is a resident-led social housing charity responsible for the delivery of housing management and maintenance services for around 1,800 homes and several commercial and community buildings in Stockwell/Brixton on behalf of a G15 Housing Association, Sovereign Network Group (SNG).
Being a community-based organisation, we are seeking to recruit an experienced candidate, with a focus on service delivery and a people-centre approach. With a turnover of £11m, and rising, and in excess of £150million of inward investment provided by SNG previously (Network Homes) over the last 10 years we have ambitious plans for the future, and we want a like-minded visionary to join us on this journey.
About the role
The role is a pivotal one within SW9 Community Housing. This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of our housing management organisation that is rich in history with a thriving, vibrant, and diverse community. As Leasehold Adviser, you will be responsible for delivering the professional, flexible and responsive service to SW9 leaseholders on behalf of Sovereign Network Group (SNG), ensuring they are managed in accordance with the terms of their leases, legislation and regulation and best practice. Be customer focused, empathetic, placing our residents at the heart of our daily focus
To ensure that both SW9 and SNG’ best interests are protected in its dealings with leaseholders and management of the properties and estates subject to leasehold interests.
Knowledge and skills
We are seeking a knowledgeable and motivated Leasehold Adviser to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and advising on leasehold properties, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and providing expert guidance to leaseholders.
You will have good technical knowledge and management experience. This is a highly visible role, and the successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience of delivering a safe and compliant responsive repairs service to all tenants and residents within budget, on time, and getting it right first time
Education/Qualification
- Degree-level education or equivalent through relevant training/experience commensurate to the role
- Holds a relevant professional qualification (highly desirable)
- Holds a management qualification (essential – CIH )
- Evidence of continuous, challenging, and relevant professional development
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the regulatory requirements of Registered Providers is desirable
- Demonstrate evidence of building and maintaining effective, productive relationships with key stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of current and future challenges facing housing as well as an understanding of “third sector” services’ issues and sensitivities
- Up-to-date knowledge of legislative frameworks, regulatory requirements, and key issues relevant to the post
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and building regulations
Experience:
- Experience in a similar role, preferably within the housing or property management sector
- Experience at operational management level within Housing, with budgetary responsibility and evidence of driving forward an innovative, high quality and customer focused service in the relevant services areas
- Experience of successful working at management level
- Experience of devising and, policies, and procedures in the field of social housing
- Experience of development and implementation of effective Health and Safety management systems
- Experience of developing policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of the business
Key Responsibilities:
- Leasehold Management: Manage and oversee leasehold properties, ensuring compliance with lease terms and relevant regulations
- Advisory Services: Provide expert advice to leaseholders on lease agreements, service charges, and other related matters
- Legal Compliance: Ensure compliance with current leasehold legislation and keep abreast of any changes in the law
- Customer Service: Respond to leaseholder queries and complaints promptly and professionally, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction
- Meetings: Attend and contribute to leaseholder meetings, providing clear and concise information and advice.
- Coordination: Work closely with property managers, legal teams, and other stakeholders to resolve leasehold issues effectively
